It looks like it’s just not meant to be for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as far as Champions League glory is concerned.
The Swede found himself eliminated from the competition at the quarter-final stage for the fifth season running, four times with Paris Saint-Germain and once with AC Milan.
PSG’s 3-2 aggregate defeat to Manchester City means he has still not won the trophy (he was on loan with Milan when parent club Barcelona triumphed in 2011) and, at the age of 34, it’s conceivable that he never will.
After scoring but also missing a penalty in the first leg of this year’s quarter final, the veteran drew a blank in the 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, and many were quick to have their say about the divisive forward.
There were enough people fighting his corner early on…
Rooting against PSG is rooting for Zlatan to never win the Champions League aka outing yourself as the spawn of Satan

Even if he did decide to interview himself again.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's self interview before the City game. A tad underwhelming compared to last week. 5/10. pic.twitter.com/2WvWJXP9y6

But once the game got underway, the criticism soon began.
City fans telling Ibrahimovic (I assume it's Ibrahimovic) he is a "shit Andy Carroll".

Even if he wasn’t the only big name to struggle…
There's a serious lack of quality on display in this Man City v PSG game. Aguero, Zlatan, Di Maria, etc all looking very average.

And the backlash continued at the final whistle…
Zlatan very much the symbol of this PSG. So expensive, so much glamour but, in slightly underwhelming way, only ever racking up easy titles.

And then we got the final insult.
Richard Wright's going to win a Champions League winners' medal before Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
