Frankly we’re gutted
After weeks and weeks of campaigning and doing our very best to try and help Stephanie Roche win this year’s Puskas, she’s missed out to James Rodriguez.
The voting showed the Colombian as a clear winner with 42 per cent of the vote as Roche came home second with 33 per cent out of 4.2million votes.
It was a super effort but it was always going to be hard to go against a pretty well-organised internet campaign in South America.
If you can dry your tears for just a moment here’s some of the best of the Twitter reaction from the decision…
Thank you to everyone who has shown @StephanieRoche9 support over the last couple of weeks! Capturing 33% of 3.3 million votes cast overall!

John Delaney has just been on to Sepp Blatter asking if there can be two Puskas Awards this year

Quiet sighs at the back of the press room as @StephanieRoche9 loses out on the puskas award, the world's media have certainly embraced her.

Gutted thought Stephanie's goal was better
