Twitter has a field day over Kieran Gibbs comically taking teammate out before Burnley equaliser

What a Coq-up

Ben Kiely

Nice hustle Kieran, but next time aim for the guys in the yellow jerseys.

Kieran Gibbs found himself going viral among the football community on Twitter on Saturday for all the wrong reasons.

A video of the English full back making an unfortunate blunder during Arsenal’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Burnley began filling up people’s timelines because of its comedic value.

Just as Coquelin was going out to close down the space, Gibbs came darting out of his box. slipped and took the Frenchman out with an accidental slide tackle. Coquelin, who has only just returned from injury, fell to the ground in agony and needed to be checked by the physio before returning to action.

To make matters worse, Burnley went on to score an equaliser to bring the game to 1-1 in the same play.

Unsurprisingly, the good people of Twitter saw the funny side of Gibbs’ immaculate coq-up.
