Ba-dum tish
Liverpool’s faint hopes of leapfrogging Manchester United, and qualifying for the Champions League, hang by a thread tonight after their rivals 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Juan Mata opened the scoring for Louis van Gaal’s side before Jason Puncheon equalised after 57 minutes.
The game’s decisive moment came just minutes later as David de Gea saved a point blank shot from Glenn Murray that could have guided the home side to a win.
As it was Ashley Young crossed for Marouane Fellaini to nod home late on and set United within a whisker of returning to the top table of European football.
Liverpool fans are feeling probably pretty rotten at the thought of Europa League football next season, but at least Jamie Carragher has tried to cheer them up tonight.
The former centre-half has cheekily pointed out that because de Gea has been so bloody good this season,he probably won’t be at the club next year if Real Madrid get their way
Only consolation is De Gea has two games left to play for Man United.

Liverpool fans would laugh if they weren’t so gutted at recent losses to Hull and nil-all draws with West Brom that really scuppered their Champions League hopes.
