Sweet but misguided
David de Gea is probably getting ready to play his final game for Manchester United today, but last night clearly his focus was elsewhere.
And we don’t just mean batting his eyelids at Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper would have been glued to his TV like all of us last night for Eurovision.
And his interest would have been more than just a passing one, or to hear Marty Whelan’s ‘hilarious’ commentary.
No,the netminders girlfriend Edurne Garcia was representing Spain, and limped home 21st out of the 27 countries with a paltry 15 points.
The UK didn’t give her any points so David might be in trouble for not tapping on his phone to try and boost her numbers.
But at least on Twitter he’s given her a big warm hug, saying that she is only fecking great
‘You are my number 1 above any votes’
Por encima de votaciones, para mi eres la NÚMERO 1 @Edurnity

He then got stuck into the thorny issue of Euro bloc-voting. Don’t go there Dave.
‘And I thought that at Eurovision music was more important than nationality’
Y yo que pensaba que en @eurovison era más importante la música que la nacionalidad…

We think there may have been a hint of where De Gea’s future lies in that Ms Garcia came out in red but finished her performance in an almost white/grey style dress.
