Tributes pour in for England Women’s Under-19 footballer killed in train accident

Friends, family and fans have been paying tribute to an 18-year-old England footballer who has died this week after a train accident.

Zoe Tynan was a midfielder for the England Women's Under-19s team. She died after being hit by a train at West Allerton station in Merseyside on Tuesday, reports the Liverpool Echo. Police confirmed an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. They are not treating the death as suspicious. Tynan started her youth career with Liverpool Feds before having a long spell at Everton. In 2015 she joined Manchester City before signing for Women's Premier League side Fylde Ladies. The Football Association and her former clubs have been among those paying tribute today. Martin Glenn, FA chief executive officer, said: “On behalf of The FA, I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Zoe’s family. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult and tragic time.” Fylde Ladies manager Luke Swindlehurst added: “We all want to remember Zoe in the best possible way. A hugely talented player with the best possible attitude and an immensely likable character.
