Brazilian has no future at Old Trafford

Being transfer listed is like something out of Championship Manager

It’s one thing not to be wanted but it’s a whole other level to be put on a list which is the football equivalent of the junk shop bargain bin.

According to this morning’s Telegraph Manchester United right back Rafael has been given his marching orders by Louis van Gaal, as the Dutchman explains he has no room for the right-back anymore.

LVG is planning to clear out the squad this summer and in order to do so he’s looking to dump Rafael by transfer listing him, as well as also considering the futures of Johnny Evans, Chris Smalling and even Phil Jones.

The decision to jettison Rafael comes in the light of a rival club looking to steal Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton under LVG’s nose.

According to the Daily Mirror Chelsea are also lining up a bid for the full-back to disrupt United’s plans for the defender.

Chelsea’s are seeking to sign the 23-year old not so much as a defensive option, but as someone who could help them achieve the home-grown player quota for their squad.

Aston Villa v Southampton - Premier League

Liverpool’s strikers *cough* didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory last night in the Europa League and Brendan Rodgers clearly is looking to bolster his goal-scoring options with Arda Turan now his top summer target.

According to the Daily Express the Atletico midfielder will cost almost €40million and at 28, is not likely to be a long term option for the club.

However, with the misfiring Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert likely to be shipped out of the club Rodgers is hoping he can tempt the La Liga man to Anfield.

Despite the failure midweek in the Champions League it seems that Arsene Wenger will be given plenty of cash this summer to prevent more heartache next season.

The club are one of the favourites to once again secure their place in the competition by finishing in the top four, but the club owners realise that a serious injection of cash may be required to avoid embarrassing results such as Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to Monaco again.

According to the Telegraph upwards of €70million will be provided for Wenger to pursue players this summer, with a striker and defensive cover top of his shopping list.
