Transfers: Manchester United’s big spending isn’t enough to keep Angel Di Maria sweet

He still wants out

Not impressed by Depay, Darmian, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin, then?

Manchester United appear to have failed in their bid to convince last summer’s marquee signing, Angel Di Maria, that his future lies at Old Trafford. Despite already shelling out more than €100million to spark this season’s Premier League and Champions League challenge, and looking set to hold on to wantaway keeper David de Gea, Di Maria still has his heart set on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Equipe.

The French club were the Argentina winger’s preferred destination last year, but FFP restrictions meant they could not afford him and he instead departed Real Madrid for Manchester United in a club record £59.7million deal.

Now, though, PSG are free to spend, and United are aiming to make back nearly all of their outlay on the player, holding out for £50million-plus or, as it is now known in the trade, Raheem Sterling Money.

Should United receive that sort of windfall, they could look to Bayern Munich for a replacement attacking option in the form of Mario Gotze. The Red Devils are one of several clubs interested in the World Cup final match-winner, with the player admitting a move to Italy, likely to Juventus, would be of interest. But Bayern boss Pep Guardiola seems determined to hang on to Gotze, insisting he wants him to stay at the club. (Express)

Chelsea v Sunderland - Premier League

Juan Cuadrado, we hardly knew ya. The Colombian forward wants to end his time at Chelsea, a mere six months after a £26million move from Fiorentina. Cuadrado played sparingly as the Blues marched to the the Premier League title and boss Jose Mourinho has said he will consider selling if the right offer comes in. Several Serie A clubs are hovering but none appear ready to come close to offering Chelsea a figure that would recoup their investment, while a loan deal has been ruled out. (Evening Standard)

Arsenal have yet to make a big splash in this summer’s market, and look set to be frustrated in their attempts to sign £30million Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Mirror), meaning Arsene Wenger could turn to Edin Dzeko to add depth to his attacking options. (Daily Star).

Newcastle have netted one striker, though, with only formalities remaining on Aleksandar Mitrovic’s £13.5million move from Anderlecht. (Mail)

Premier League off cuts are all the rage in Turkey, as Fenerbahce look to add Aaron Lennon to their signings of Nani and Robin van Persie. (Sun)
