Finally, the Guardian reports that Chelsea are close to landing defender Baba Rahman from FC Augsburg after submitting a £17.5m bid for the Ghana international.

Augsburg rejected an initial offer of £14m for the player but are now expected to accept the new improved offer.

Considering they signed the defender from Greuther Fürth for the princely sum of £1m, this would prove to be an exceptional bit of business for the German outfit.
