Sergio Busquets is only 26?
Sign that man up right now!
A number of Europe’s top clubs – and Arsenal – have entered a bidding war for the anchor of the Barcelona midfield. Busquets has reportedly grown discontent at the Nou Camp under new manager Luis Enrique and, alongside the Gunners, both Chelsea and Manchester United are believed to be courting the Spanish international ahead of the transfer window. Paris Saint Germain are also said to be in the running but you’d fancy Bayern Munich to be favourites for the Barca player’s signature considering it was Pep Guardiola who brought Busquets onto the scene as a spritely 20-year-old. Who wants to hear something funny? Apparently – and we can’t stress that enough – Aston Villa are facing a battle – that’s right, battle – to keep a hold of… Aly Cissokho. The Daily Mirror are reporting that both Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli are interested in the left back. And they said Spurs were top four contenders, too.
Manuel Pellegrini is set to ease Manchester City‘s striker problems in January… by signing midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. Okay, okay, we know that they have plenty of options just all freakishly unavailable at once and the 23-year-old Belgian would certainly be an interesting prospect. Besides, the last time they snatched up an unwanted Chelsea player, it worked out a treat. (Daily Star)
Arsene Wenger isn’t yet done stockpiling tiny midfielders. Once again, the Arsenal boss is answering the cries for a defensive backbone by ramping up the chase for another agile link man, this time in the form of Nabil Fekir. Fekir… Le Parsien in France are reporting that the Frenchman’s father has said that he will only leave Lyon for the Gunners. Nabil Fekir. Must’ve come through the Feckarse Industries.
Meanwhile, Tomas Rosicky is about to say ‘feck this’ and jump ship to Olympiakos after watching Arsenal’s underwhelming league performances this year mostly from the bench. (Independent)
In other news, Tony Watt could be set to leave Standard Liege with Charlton closing in on the former Celtic striker’s signature (Daily Express) and then, by the same token, you have your usual chat that Manchester United are looking to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford for a token €150m… It’s a much of a muchness really.
