Manchester United dominate the transfer gossip this morning.
It looks like the Red Devils could be about to make the same mistake they did with Juventus superstar Paul Pogba, this time with 19-year-old Brazilian prospect Andreas Pereira.
Manchester Evening News report that PSG are willing to offer the midfielder three times the €8,000 a week contract offered to him by United.
Alex Ferguson lost out on Pogba in 2012 by failing to secure the Frenchman to a contract just before he blossomed into one of the best young players in Europe and it looks like the same could happen with Pereira if they’re not careful.
There are talks, though, in bringing a more defensive-minded midfielder to Old Trafford in the form of Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.
The German international is out of contract in the summer and Manchester United lead the line of clubs waiting to snatch him up, willing to offer the 28-year-old a staggering €270,000 a week.
United will have to fight off interest from rivals Chelsea and Arsenal for Khedira’s signature and, if he signs for Louis van Gaal’s side, he will become the first senior German player to line out for Manchester United. (Daily Star)
Premier League flop Radamel Falcao could be moving in the opposite direction with Real manager Carlo Ancelotti keen on bringing the Colombian to the Bernabeu when his loan deal with United is up.
The Sunday Express report that the Champions League holders are willing to offer Monaco over €40 million for the misfiring striker in the summer as Louis van Gaal has no interest in securing the player on a permanent basis.
In non-Manchester United news, Brendan Rodgers is ready to up his efforts to bring Burnley’s Danny Ings to Liverpool in the summer.
Ings is one of the most sought-after young forwards in England, with nine goals to his name in the Premier League, and is on the radar of Newcastle, Spurs and David Moyes’ Real Sociedad.
But Rodgers is eager not to miss out on the 22-year-old who is out of contract in the summer and looks unlikely to pen a new deal at Turf Moor. (The Mirror)
Meanwhile, in transfer news from 2014, Arsene Wenger wants to bring Yohan Cabaye to the Emirates.
The Arsenal boss was feeling out a move for his fellow Frenchman last year but was outbid by PSG.
Cabaye has failed to nail down a regular starting place under Laurent Blanc though which could prompt a move back to the Premier League with Arsenal the favourites to land the former Newcastle man by making a €14 million bid. (Daily Mirror)
But Arsenal look like missing out on another transfer target to one of their biggest rivals as Chelsea have upped their interest in Valencia full-back Jose Luis Gaya.
The Gunners looked likely to secure the services of the Spaniard this summer but Chelsea are now willing to activate Gaya’s release clause of €19 million.
The Blues have overtaken Arsenal in the race for the 19-year-old as Jose Mourinho has the bargaining chip of Luis Felipe who he is willing to let move to Valencia as part of the deal. (Daily Star)
