Transfer Talk: Manchester United line up move for ‘next Cristiano’

Chelsea join race for Marquinhos

Manchester United could be set to sign a player even better than Cristiano Ronaldo, if a Dutch scout is to be believed

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a massive move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, but if that fails to materialise, a £20million bid for Holland winger Memphis Depay seems like a solid Plan B, with ex-United spotter Ed van Stijn firmly in the 21-year-old PSV star’s camp. ‘If you compare him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, then Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better,’ Van Stijn said. (Express)

If Depay, or even Bale, arrives in Manchester, that could signal the end of Angel di Maria’s spell in the Premier League, with Paris Saint-Germain ready to swoop in and rescue the Argentinian from his Old Trafford hell. The World Cup star has struggled to settle in England, and the French champions still want the forward having missed out last summer due to their attempts to comply with FFP. (Mirror)

Chelsea have joined the race for PSG defender Marquinhos. While John Terry is expected to extend his career at Stamford Bridge by a further season, Jose Mourinho knows he needs a succession plan in place for the club’s captain, and the £40million-rated Brazilian could be just the man for the job.

Good news for Javier Hernandez, who may be feeling a tad unwanted by current loan side Real Madrid and parent club Manchester United. The Little Pea should have a coterie of Premier League clubs chasing his signature this summer, with Tottenham, Everton and Stoke set to join favourites West Ham in the race. (Daily Star)
