The clock it ticking.
There’s only 115 days, six hours, 54 minutes and 46 seconds until the summer transfer window slams open.
And, after the Premier League agreed a new TV deal worth over £5 billion this week, there’s sure to be a lot of money being thrown around once the window opens June 9.
However, according to the Sun, Danny Ings could be on his way out of the Premier League, snubbing an offer from potential suitors Liverpool to join up with David Moyes at Real Sociedad. The British tabloid have reported that the Burnley striker is en route to Spain to hold talks with the Basque club, ahead of a move in the summer.
Ings has been in excellent form this season, his first in the Premier League, scoring nine goals in 22 games and has attracted interest from a host of clubs. Liverpool contemplated a move for the player in January, and appeared favourites to land the 22 year old in the summer when his contract expired.
It wouldn’t be Transfer Talk without Manchester United being linked with mega deal, and today the Old Trafford club are being linked with a £60 million move for Edinson Cavani. According to The Daily Star, the PSG striker is available for transfer, after failing to settle in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shadow at the Ligue 1 club, and United are willing to meet the club’s valuation.
Cavani was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford in 2013, before he joined PSG, and the move for him this summer will spell the end of Radamel Falcao’s time in Manchester.
A Daily Star ‘source’ said: ‘Edinson Cavani has been targeted as the big-name striker the club wants and United are confident of pulling it off. He has not settled in Paris and is looking for a new challenge at another big club, so United fit the bill’.
Another Premier League side on the hunt for a striker this summer will be Arsenal. The Daily Mail reported that the Gunners will make a move for Jackson Martinez, after Arsene Wenger was quoted saying how much he admires the Porto striker.
Wenger said that Martinez has ‘top physical strengths’ and is ‘hugely efficient’.
‘He is the kind of player who can make room for himself in the box. He could play in the Premier League because he has the body to make the difference. He uses it in a very intelligent way’.
‘Very short back lift and he’s a very good finisher. He’s on the list of many clubs, you know that. He will be the next big transfer who will give a big smile to Pinto da Costa (Porto’s owner).’
The 28 year old Colombian international has scored an impressive 85 goals in 120 games since joining Porto in 2012.
