Everything's coming up Millhouse

Although the transfer gossip is rarely reliable, msot ‘Pool fans will be hoping these two rumours come true.

Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino has revealed his intention to sign Iago Aspas on a permanent basis, according to Sky Sports.

The Spaniard started out at Celta and bagged an impressive 50 goals in 152 games before being snapped up by Liverpool for £7.6m in 2013.

However, he didn’t enjoy quite the same success at Anfield and ended up with a lacklustre return of one goal in 15 appearances last season before being loaned out to Sevilla last summer.

The Celta president explained that he hopes to bring Aspas back to where he enjoyed most of his success, although he hinted that the club might not be able splash the cash to re-acquire his services.

“We would like to bring back Iago and [former Celta striker] Joselu but we know our limitations. It’s impossible for us to compete with other clubs.”

Liverpool v Chelsea - Premier League

The Sun are reporting that Liverpool are prepared to offer a loan deal for reserve Chelsea ‘keeper Petr Cech.

The Champions League and Europa League winning shot-stopper has found himself out of favour at Stamford Bridge since Thibaut Courtois’ stellar form has seen him nail down a place in the first team.

The experienced Czech Republic international’s contract runs out next summer, and Liverpool are reportedly readying a £7.5m deal to bring him to Anfield on a season long loan.

Chelsea v Paris Saint-Germain FC - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final

Aston Villa could be ready to cash in on their star striker Christian Benteke this summer, so the Daily Star reports.

However, Villa boss Sherwood says he’ll only let the £25m-rated Belgian go if he wants to leave the club. Sherwood is hopeful that Benteke will chose to stay at Villa Park though.

“There’s been no indication to me that he wants to go elsewhere but if he does we will assess the situation.”

“You don’t want players going into the last 18 months of their contract. He’s a top player and I want to keep him. But you can’t force any player to stay.”

“You might as well take the money because you end up without the money or the player.”

Aston Villa v Manchester United - Premier League

Finally it looks like Raphael Varane is staying put at Real Madrid. Marca are claiming the club has informed him they are not selling him this summer.

This means that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are set to miss out on the talented youngster after all three clubs were heavily linked with him.

Varane, who joined the club from RC Lens in 2011, is under contract until 2020.
