Transfer Talk: Liverpool eye up Pedro as replacement for want away Sterling

Pedro could be at Anfield this summer

Vote for Pedro!

That seems to be the message coming from Anfield this morning, as Liverpool keep tabs on potential replacements for Raheem Sterling, should he leave the club this summer.

The Daily Mail report that top of their shopping list is Barcelona winger Pedro.

The 27-year-old World Cup winner is seen as a perfect replacement for Sterling, and would be available for a reasonable price, and around £90,000 in wages.

FC Barcelona v Cordoba CF - La Liga

While Pedro is a valued squad member at Barcelona, he is outside the tent, looking in, as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez a and Neymar dominate the attack.

Pedro could look to his former Barca teammate Alexis Sanchez as an example of a player who flourished after leaving Barca.

Leicester City v Liverpool - Premier League

Manchester City are reportedly stepping up their interest in English talent, and The Telegraph say they have pinpointed Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere are potential signings.

Much like Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson is currently in the process of negotiating a new contract at Anfield, but it seems to have alerted City, who are believed to be impressed with his form over the past year.

Chelsea v Arsenal - Premier League

While Wilshere has been plagued with injury in recent seasons, it would potentially be a big gamble for City to spend big on the midfielder.

One player who looks to be on the way out of City though, is Sami Nasri. The Frenchman came off the bench against Crystal Palace on Monday night after being dropped recently, and it’s thought the club have had enough with the temperamental midfielder.

Nasri looks to be one of the first players flogged by the champions after a disappointing run since Christmas, and they’re hoping to use him as bait to lure in the sought-after Paul Pogba.

The Mirror claim City will offer cash plus Nasri, and may also throw in Edin Dzeko to sweeten the deal, who has been struggling for form this season.

Despite Olivier Giroud’s recent form (11 goals in 12), those rumours that Arsenal will sign a striker are as prevalent as ever.

Juventus FC v SSC Napoli - 2014 Italian Super Cup

The Telegraph say that Gonzalo Higuain is back on the Gunners’ radar, after he hinted he’d leave Napoli if thy fail to make it into the Champions League.

Arsenal famously missed out on the then Real Madrid star in 2013 when he chose Italy over London, but it looks like they may renew their interest in the Argentinean.

They say Higuain has told friends he won’t hang around for another season in the Europa League, and if manager Rafa Benitez also departs, it could spark a mass exodus in the club.

And finally Patrick Roberts, the England under 19 international that Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs are keen on poaching, will be offered a new deal by Fulham, who are keen to get the most out of their starlet.

Fulham v Ipswich Town - Sky Bet Championship

The 18-year old has been grabbing a lot of attention, but manager Kit Symons has said they’ll do their best to lock him down in a new contract.

“We will look to tie up our best young players. He’s a fantastic prospect,” he’s quoted as saying in The Mirror.

“It’s a little bit early for him to play Championship football in the position we’re in.

“He’s a sensible lad. I’d be a bit worried if he didn’t want to play but he understands the situation and the predicament of the club,” Symons said.

Having said that, Roberts wouldn’t be the first “sensible lad” that got wooed by the Premier League.
