The Premier League transfer rumour mill rages on
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says striker Radamel Falcao is not guaranteed a place on the club’s books next season. The Dutch boss says the Colombian will have to prove his fitness and get back to the sensational form he had at Athletico Madrid in order to convince him to turn the loan spell into a permanent deal.
Signing the £43.5 million man could pose a huge risk for the club. Falcao has struggled to maintain his fitness since coming to the Premier League and has only played eight league games for the club, finding the net just once. Louis van Gaal admitted that he hasn’t seen enough action from the player this season to justify signing him on a permanent deal just yet. [The Daily Star}
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur look set to miss out on midfield target Morgan Schneiderlin to bitter North London rivals Arsenal. Spurs had a £10 million offer for the Frenchman turned down by Southampton last summer and the Saints claim he will not be for sale in January.
However, he is reportedly eyeing up a move away from the club and Arsenal, whose numerous high cost signings from the club over the years mean they have a much better relationship with Southampton than Spurs, are rumoured to have the midfielder in their sights.
The Saints might be already lining up a replacement for the French midfielder. The Mirror are reporting that they are keeping a close eye on Eljero Elia of Werder Bremen. The Dutch midfielder will come with a price tag of around £4 million.
Turning our focus back to Manchester now and Man City young gun Matija Nastasic could be set to leave the Etihad Stadium. Schalke and AC Milan are reportedly interested in the defender but they will likely have to fork out at least £10 million for the Serbian’s signature. [The Daily Express]
Meanwhile in Liverpool, out of favour midfielder Lucas Leiva could be heading to the Serie A in January. The Brazilian is on Inter Milan’s radar and they are interested in bringing him to the San Siro on a short term basis. [Talksport]
