Transfer talk: Arsenal gunning for Raheem Sterling and Hummels says he wants to leave Dortmund

The transfer merry-go-round

The times they are a-changin’. Well, apparently.

They’re changing everyday to be honest but, this Monday morning, we’re revisiting speculation of the past. So that means they must be definitely happening.

Starting at Liverpool, Raheem Sterling is working the club into a frenzy. The English youngster knows fine rightly how much they value him at Anfield and we’re pretty sure that his representatives are happy enough with the Real Madrid murmurs circling whilst contract talks sit at a junction.

However, Arsene Wenger is said to be interested in bringing the 20-year-old to Arsenal. The Daily Mirror are reporting that the Gunners boss is ready to make a massive bid for Sterling which would be perfectly believable if it didn’t include the words ‘massive bid’.

Another day, another Mats Hummels link with Manchester United. Do we need to go into it again? Just sign him already before he’s 43. Hummels has helped us step up the pace though by signalling that he wants to leave Dortmund. Reports in Germany quote the defender as saying “I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool are ready to react to the departure of Sterling, their young, speedy, tricky, whippet with a ready-made replacement… in James Milner. The rumours were circulating yesterday and they’re back on the mill today again. You know what they say, two rumours in two days and all that…
The Man City midfielder-come-striker-some-right back has been linked with an exit from the Etihad all season and the ‘Pool have always topped the list of contenders vying for his signature. Or so sources tell us anyway. (Daily Mirror)

Chelsea are looking to spend just the £165m on three players this summer. The Daily Mail says the club are linked with Real Madrid centre half Rafael Varane and they’ve pulled a figure from their arse worth around £40m. They’ve also been given the ‘green light’ to go ahead and take Gareth Bale from them for £75m because the Welshman’s two international goals at the weekend are a sign that he wants out.

They are doing their good deed to society though by trying to thwart Man City from ruining another young English man’s career. Ross Barkley is going for a very reasonable £50m – reasonable in the Andy Carroll Transfer Index – and Mourinho reckons that, whilst the Everton man is rough around the edges and has a zeal to get forward too often, he has shown glimpses that he can do a Mikel role if given the right instructions. Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring Polish centre half Kamil Glik to White Hart Lane. The 27-year-old Torino captain is out of contract in… two and a half years’ time so it must be happening pretty soon. (The Sun)
