Transfer gossip round-up: Are Manchester United going to swap Adnan Januzaj for Seamus Coleman?

This could be a good move for all concerned

Evan Fanning

Just another six to eight months of this saga to run

Seamus Coleman has been linked with a move to Manchester United for as long as we can remember.

In fact, after some top, top journalistic endeavour we can reveal that the first time the Killybegs lad was rumoured to be on his way to Old Trafford was when he was an 18-month-old boy as Alex Ferguson, still desperately searching for his first title as United boss, swooped in with an offer of a six-month supply of rusk and a Betamax copy of every episode of Thomas the Talk Engine.

Well now, according to no lesser light than the Manchester Evening News, United may finally bring Coleman to Old Trafford this summer with Adnan Januzaj heading the other way in part-exchange.

If that doesn’t work they’ll shift Januzaj to Paris St-Germain and get Marquinhos in return.

Liverpool and Arsenal’s hopes of signing Asier Illarramendi could be scuppered if David Moyes learns how to say his name and brings him to Real Sociedad. At least that’s what the Daily Star reckon.

Finally, according to the Daily Express, Liverpool and Manchester United could be set for a bare-knuckle battle to the death (we’re paraphrasing a bit here) over Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

And that is very much something to look forward to.
