Kane’s contract expires next summer
Tottenham owner Joe Lewis has told Daniel Levy to sell Harry Kane this summer if the forward refuses to sign a new deal.
Kane’s contract expires at the end of this season and hasn’t shown any signs that he will commit to new terms.
Spurs are keen to keep their star man at the club and have reportedly offered him a bumper new contract with a non-playing role guaranteed for when he retires but if the 29-year-old opts not to sign, Lewis has called for them to cash in on him now to avoid losing him for free, as revealed by the Daily Mail.
Bayern Munich and Manchester United have both shown interest in the forward. The Bundesliga champions have had two offers rejected but allegedly have plans to go back in with a third offer while United’s interest has seemingly cooled in recent weeks as they pursue Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
Son Heung-min on Harry Kane
Thomas Tuchel reportedly met with Harry Kane in May where the England international outlined his desire to win trophies and the German side are said to be confident they can secure his services, with the forward’s wife Kate apparently already looking at houses in Munich.
United could bring themselves back into contention but only if they feel a deal is financially viable. Kane turns 30 on Friday.
Despite talk about his future hanging over the Spurs camp, teammate Son Heung-min insists that his teammate is still in good spirits.
“Harry has been fantastic for me,” he said.
“He’s always professional, always working hard. He’s never showed any thoughts about himself.
“There’s so much news going around, it’s also not easy for him. But he’s captain at the moment and he’s working with the team. He doesn’t show any distraction. He is not bothered, you know. He loves being here. I love him as a player. I fully respect him.”
