It appears James McClean has the full trust of his manager.
The West Brom winger is, by accident or design, never far from controversy, but on the pitch at least things are going well.
McClean is just months away from appearing at the European Championships for the Republic of Ireland, and has enjoyed a productive season for his club.
Tony Pulis signed the 26 year old from Wigan last summer for just £1.5million, following the team’s relegation to League One, and bestowed some very high praise on McClean in a recent interview with ESPN.
The Welshman has been involved in management since 1992, and in charge of eight teams during that time, but has said McClean is the hardest working player he’s encountered.
“James McClean’s work rate is phenomenal,” Pulis said. “I’ve never seen someone work as hard.”
“To be successful in the way that we play, you have to work really hard as a team. And there can’t be any individual who is not doing the work that is needed.”
