Some coup if Saints pull this one off

The inquest into English clubs failure in Europe is leading to many gnarled and gnashed faces in the UK, mainly among members of the media.

If Sky’s Sunday Supplement is your bag then you can expect a pretty heated discussion on Sunday morning with a fair few of those plastic croissants being flung across the studio.

But under the radar one of Europe’s biggest rising stars could be coming to the Premier League, if only for a season.

Martin Odegaard is just a wet week at Real Madrid but the club are already anxious that he gets some much needed first team exposure.

According to The Sun the Norwegian could be about to sign for Ronald Koeman’s side on a season long loan deal which would be pretty exciting for everyone concerned.

Martin Odegaard Officially Unveiled At Real Madrid

Elsewhere, sometimes you just know that things aren’t going to work out. You just have a feeling and it eats away at you until eventually something has to give.

That seems to be the atmosphere around Old Trafford at the moment as the club’s record signing Angel Di Maria appears increasingly frustrated at life under Louis van Gaal.

The winger has been well below the standard Manchester United fans expect from a so called world-class signing, and it seems the player knows his days at the club are numbered.

According to the Daily Express the midfielder has instructed his agent Jorge Mendes to start looking for a new club after scoring just four goals in his tenure in the Premier League so far.

The Argentine is understood to seeking a move back to Spain where Barcelona could offer him some work, or else the long-mooted switch to Paris St-Germain may well materialise.

Manchester United v Sunderland - Premier League

Manchester United fans didn’t get what they wanted in the January window which was a centre half, but it’s almost unthinkable that they wont sign a striker to cover from one if not two possible departures this summer.

Edinson Cavini has been linked with a host of Premier League sides but it’s now looking like it will be a straight fight between Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature

According to today’s Daily Mail both clubs are in a race to sign the almost €50 million rated frontman.

Everton striker Romeleu Lukaku took a little bit of time to get going this season but he’s on a hot streak right now-especially in Europe. The former Chelsea man has been central to the club’s progression in the Europa League after a mixed start to life at Goodison following a permanent switch last summer.

However a club that missed out on his services last season may be about to tempt the Toffees with serious cash this summer to get him to the Bundesliga according to the Daily Mirror.

Wolfsburg are preparing a €40 million plus deal to try and get the Belgian to bolster their ambitions at home and in Europe next season.

Hull City v Everton - Premier League

If the Everton man does come in then the German club will need to finance that deal somehow and it could be another ex-Chelsea man that pays for the deal.

According to the London Evening Standard Manchester City are planning for life without Yaya Toure this summer and see Kevin De Bruyne as an ideal replacement.

The 23-year old has been one of the club’s top performers and would cost in the region of €40 million if he was to make a switch back to the Premier League
