Jack O'Toole

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea.

Courtois has agreed terms to a six-year contract with the European champions for a fee believed to be in the region of €35 million.

Courtois spent seven seasons at Chelsea, including three years on loan at Atletico Madrid, and leaves the club with two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup to his name.

Real Madrid confirmed that Courtois will have a medical examination on Thursday and will be presented in the honor box of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium later that afternoon.

Courtois was awarded the Golden Glove award at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after Belgium finished in third place at the tournament following a play-off win over England.

Meanwhile it is understood that Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic will head to Chelsea in a season long loan deal and the acquisition of the Croatian follows the signing of Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The West London club will break the world record transfer for a goalkeeper, paying an extraordinary £71 million for the 23-year-old.
