Thiago Silva has stepped up big time for Brazil in the absence of Neymar

Will Slattery

Maybe Brazil aren’t just a one man team.

When Neymar plays for his country, he comes alive. He is their chief scorer and is also the architect of most of their attacks. After being banned for the remainder of the Copa America, many expected Brazil to struggle, especially since they capitulated against Germany in the World Cup in his absence.

But it is worth remembering that defender Thiago Silva also missed that game and he has really delivered for Dunga’s men so far against Venezuela tonight. Neymar would have been proud of a finish like this.

A Brazil win will see them into the Copa America quarter-finals.
