Drumming and taking care of trolls – Welcome to Petr Cech’s new life

His internet/musical instrument game is strong

He probably has a wife and kids and stuff but we’re absolutely certain that this is all Petr Cech does now

Petr Cech doesn’t get much game time at Chelsea since the club recalled Thibaut Courtois from his three-season loan at Atletico Madrid.

But the man who was once the best goalkeeper in English football has been keeping himself busy while he benchwarms, getting stuck into two wholesome and downright commendable past-times: namely trolling and drumming.

Many a keyboard warrior have stepped to the big Chelsea keeper and one by one they’re put back in their box.

There’s the fairly straightforward smack down like this

And then there’s more creative ‘move along, son’ replies

But he can definitely take it up a notch when things get personal

Still, he’s not all that sure why this is even an issue, working on the not unreasonable assumption that those who dish out abuse should be able to take it when it comes back their way

But it can’t all be Charles Bronson-ing the internet warriors. Not when there’s some serious drumming to be done. Cech has his own YouTube channel for his his work on the skins

It leads to some Grade A YouTube comments. He’s clearly a role model for those in the centre of the ‘drumming’ and ‘Chelsea FC’ Venn diagram

While others see a big, big future ahead. One which includes Shane Long and Kolo Toure, for no apparent reason

Plus he’s about the only footballer we can think of for whom a YouTube recommended link is a drum cover of Uptown Funk

For all these reasons (and more): Petr Cech – we salute you. You’re not a bad goalkeeper either
