There’s no sympathy for this Liverpool fan who left Borussia Dortmund game at half-time

"One of (the) biggest regrets of my life"

Robert Redmond

The cardinal sin for any football fan.

Spencer Evans left Anfield at half-time during their Europa League game against Borussia Dortmund, with the score on the night 0-2, and 1-3 on aggregate.

At that stage, the Reds needed three goals to progress, a feat akin to a miracle against of the best sides of Europe. The Liverpool fan, a Kop season-ticket holder, decided it was a lost cause and left the stadium.

Cue miracle.

Dejan Lovren scored in the last minute, winning the game for Liverpool 4-3 on the night, 5-4 on aggregate. Now this fan has to live with the fact he left the ground early, and missed out on one of the best European nights ever witnessed at Anfield.

While one has to admire Spencer’s honesty and bravery in admitting he left the ground early, a cardinal sin for any football fan, Twitter users had no sympathy for him.
