“Welcome to Arsenal, remember that time I scored against you?”
Theo Walcott reacted like most when Petr Cech’s transfer to Arsenal from Chelsea was confirmed earlier today; he immediately thought of the time he scored his first goal for the club, against Cech in the Carling Cup final back in 2007.
Scored my first ever arsenal goal against him – delighted to welcome @petrcech to @arsenal !!! #WelcomeCech pic.twitter.com/9bBpr7nqVP

“Erm, thanks Theo? You’re welcome. I’m glad you scored that goal and immediately thought about it when it was announced we’ll be teammates.” Cech did not reply.
Instead, he handled it the same way he would a wayward Walcott shot, in good spirit and with a smile.
@theowalcott @Arsenal thank you. Happy it won't happen again 😄

Walcott wasn’t the only Arsenal player to welcome Cech to the club.

Cech is so highly rated, even his supposed rivals for a starting position welcomed him to the Emirates.

And by “learning”, they mean sitting on the bench or going on loan.
