Daniel Sturridge is back… in training. Again.
The Liverpool and England striker is back on the training ground at Melwood as he targets a long-term return to his club’s frontline.
Sturridge played only 18 games for Liverpool last season and hasn’t played in the current campaign since October 3.
Jurgen Klopp will have been pleased to see the 26-year-old taking a full part in today’s drills. However, it is too early to tell if the German will be able to call on Sturridge for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.
In 2013/14, Sturridge and Luis Suarez struck up a wonderful strike partnership as the Merseysiders threatened for the title.
Persistent knee injuries have hobbled him since and this statistic would suggest that Liverpool fans may not be getting their hopes up just yet.

Even were Sturridge to shoot the lights out in training, Klopp would likely place him on the subs’ bench for the trip to City’s Etihad Stadium.
Nonetheless, the return of a proven goalscorer to training is another boost after James Milner and Jordon Ibe were both declared fit for this weekend.
