The big news broke last night, but at 9am on the dot, Liverpool confirmed the news that we had all be expecting; club legend Steven Gerrard will leave the club at the end of the season, ending a near 17 year career at the club.
While many Liverpool fans have been looking for the 34-year-old to call it a day, today’s announcement was always going to spark some memorable tributes to the career of the midfield icon.
The club made the announcement this morning, and the twitter reaction from some former teammates and fans was a testament to the big man’s impact on so many fans in England, Ireland and abroad.
