Arsenal fans, how’s your day going?
Pretty well we’d imagine, what with all those positive comments about the agreement of a new deal flowing from Hector Bellerin’s agent’s mouth.
Let us bring you back down to earth with a bump then, with the news that Alexis Sanchez has gone and done his calf in while in training with his national team.
With Chile set to face Colombia in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday evening, reports from South America claim that the former Barcelona man was forced to leave training on Tuesday afternoon to undergo medical examinations on a suspected torn calf muscle.
The Chilean FA confirmed the injury shortly afterwards in a statement:
“The Medical Corps of the Chilean national team informs the player Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle injury,” it reads.
“The athlete will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation to the meeting of Chile to Uruguay.”
It’s early days yet, but the news will be a massive concern to Arsene Wenger, who is preparing to take his Arsenal side to Old Trafford on November 19 with Manchester United on a winning streak of one straight match.
Arsenal, who currently sit in fourth in the Premier League (make your own over-used jokes), and are undefeated since their opening day defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
Still, at least their form in November is traditionally exceptionally good, right? Who needs Alexis Sanchez anyway?
