After what has seemed like an age, Tim Wiese finally made his WWE tag team debut last night.
The German international goalkeeper officially hung up his gloves this year, giving him the green light to move on to an altogether more physical pastime, but he’s been gearing up for a move into wrestling for some time.
He pledged to go full throttle ahead of his bow, where he was joined by Sheamus and Cesaro.
And the 34-year-old seemed to deliver, making a winning start in his new guise as ‘The Machine’.

There were question marks around the German even before he got started.

But we soon found out how wrestling fans responded to his reinvention.

He had to wait a few years before reaching the top as a footballer, eventually playing for Werder Bremen in the Champions League, so he’s used to not getting elite billing straight away.
However, after waiting for his chance, he’ll be keen to stay at the top of the wrestling world for as long as they’ll have him.
How’s that for a still, by the way.
