Sure, we’re all looking forward to the football being played at Euro 16, not to mention the festival atmosphere and the opportunity to indulge in French food and drink for a month, but one thing is more important.
That’s right, those mini hashflags you’ll be seeing on Twitter from now until July.
Anyone who was following the last World Cup on the social network will remember the excitement at being able to type country-specific hashtags and seeing their country’s flag show up. It was like Christmas, only without the presents, weather, or…yeah, actually it wasn’t much like Christmas at all.

Well, now the flags are back just in time for Euro 2016, and boy are we excited.
The ones you’ll probably be using the most are #IRL for the Republic of Ireland (obviously!), #NIR for Northern Ireland, #ENG for England and #WAL for Wales.
But if you’re cheering on one of the other countries in the competition, Twitter’s Ben Jack Thomas has handily put them all in one place.
We imagine fans of first-timers like Iceland and Albania are among the most excited. After all, how often have they had the chance to join in with this sort of major tournament excitement?
It really does separate the haves and have-nots, though.
