Italy will be without one of their star midfielders for Euro 2016.
The Juventus midfielder will miss this year’s European Championship after tearing knee ligaments during Juventus’ 4-0 Serie A victory over Palermo on Sunday.
He was stretchered off just 16 minutes into the match after he fell awkwardly during a challenge with Palermo’s Franco Vazquez.

An MRI scan confirmed the worst fears, that he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Juventus revealed in a statement that Marchisio will undergo surgery over this week.
Although it is not clear exactly how long Marchisio will be out of action for, it is expected that he’ll need four to six months to fully recover. This means that he will miss the rest of the season and as well as Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign.
