As talk of Griezmann moving to Manchester United ramps up, a rival’s tweet doesn’t go down well

All talk on Thursday would suggest that Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is Old Trafford-bound.

Reports claim that the Frenchman will move to Manchester United in the summer for a transfer fee of €100 million while it’s been suggested that the vacant number 7 jersey, which will be available once Memphis Depay’s transfer to Lyon is confirmed, is destined for Griezmann’s back.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has hinted that he would not stand in the way of any players’ moves away from the club if it’s what they wanted.

“I don’t tie anybody down. I simply work in order to continue getting better for the good of the club,” Simeone said.

And while all signs are pointing towards United being front-runners for the 25-year-old’s signature, the Red Devils’ noisy neighbours got involved in the saga by tweeting about Griezmann early on Thursday morning.

The prospect of signing Griezmann is one that would thrill City fans but most supporters had the wherewithal to know that United seemed to be in the driving seat with this transfer and thought it would be a wise move to get rid of the tweet entirely.
