Martin Olsson reckons Wes Hoolahan’s brain won’t be any match for Sweden’s brawn, but he’s wary of the threat of Robbie Brady.
The Republic of Ireland face Sweden in their opening game of Euro 2016 and Sweden defender Olsson claims that although his Norwich teammate is an excellent footballer, defenders can rough him up and exploit his lack of physical prowess.
“Wes is a technically fantastic player who, on his day, can dribble away from anyone,” Olsson said about the Republic of Ireland midfielder.
“But if you’re tight on him, he is not the strongest. I know we will be solid defensively and will be ready for the threat Ireland pose.”
However, many others have thought Hoolahan’s lack of physical strength could be used against him, and he has consistently proved doubters wrong throughout his career. One Ireland player Olsson does seem worried about is Robbie Brady, another Norwich teammate.
“Robbie has a great left foot and can break at pace,” the 28-year-old said.
“The danger he causes from set-pieces is something we’ll have to watch.”
