A couple of trophyless seasons haven’t made Manchester United any more likeable…
The Red Devils are top of the league when it comes to unpopularity in a survey carried out by the Trinity Mirror group.
Thousands of fans from all Premier League clubs were invited to give their opinions, either liking, disliking or being non-fussed about their rivals, and United have pipped champions Chelsea to the unwanted honour, a reversal of the previous set of results in 2013, with Liverpool and Manchester City coming next.
Arsenal, as the ninth most popular team fared best of the perennial challengers for the top four, with Southampton, newly-promoted Bournemouth and Swansea the most popular three teams overall.
The results can also be broken down by team, with Liverpool backers unsurprisingly being those with the least favourable disposition to United, with Chelsea also less liked than Merseyside’s blue bloods, Everton.
Chelsea fans also came out in force against Wayne Rooney and company, but the team United fans love to hate is neither Liverpool nor Chelsea, however, with derby rivals City bottom of their affections, while Arsenal supporters have absolutely no time at all for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and north London rivals Tottenham.
