Now that their noisy neighbours aren’t in the Premier League to mock them, Sunderland have decided to get a bit more adventurous with their kits.
The Black Cats have boldly decided to adopt a pink and purple design for their third strip ahead of the 2016/17 season.
Big Sam just about kept Sunderland in the top flight last season, at the expense of their arch-rivals Newcastle, and they’re going all out in celebration.
“Black Cats take new direction ahead of 2016-17 season!” a Sunderland statement reads.
The new third jersey bears club sponsor dafabet on the torso and has a striking design of alternating pink and purple strikes, with a bright cerise shade on the sleeves.
It will be topped off by purple shorts and socks with pink adidas stripes.
We predict an awful lot of “it’s fookin’ salmon” being uttered in a Mackem accent come August.
