Sunderland fans quite simply refuse to take things for granted.
The Black Cats just avoided relegation this season and the fans aren’t the least bit ungrateful for the role that Dick Advocaat played in their survival.
After initially revealing that he would leave the Stadium of Light due to his wife’s wishes, Advocaat made a U-turn on his plans by confirming that he would stay on for the 2015-16 season.
And the Sunderland fans have raised €1,800 to buy flowers for Advocaat’s wife by way of thanks for allowing her husband to continue managing on Wearside.
A gofundme account was set up by the thankful supporters with one fan on the Sunderland Message Board saying the goal was “to give Mrs Advocaat a big thank you for giving us another year of the little general!”
It took just seven hours for the fund to reach €1,800 and, after delivering flowers to Mrs Advocaat, the plan is to split €200 between a charity of her choosing and the SAFC foundation.
We just want to know what kind of super-flower that ludicrous amount of money can buy. Don’t they know that you can get a grand bouquet down in Tesco for about a fiver?
