One message dominates the replies to Steven Gerrard’s most recent Instagram post.
The Liverpool legend seems to have suggested that his time with LA Galaxy is coming to an end, just over a year since he made his first appearance for the MLS side.
“Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege,” Gerrard wrote. “You have made this place feel like home to me.
“This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.”

Gerrard has been spotted at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground in recent weeks as he stepped up his recovery from a hamstring injury and his presence on Merseyside sparked rumours of a potential return to the Reds.
Gerrard’s Galaxy contract is close to running up but the midfielder is open to the idea of continuing his career in a playing capacity for another year, although retirement remains an option.
“I’m wondering whether I should play on for a little bit longer or whether I should call it a day. I haven’t 100 per cent decided on that yet,” Gerrard recently said.
“I still enjoy playing. I still love coming into training, I still love competing, so if I can carry on and there are opportunities to stay here or go somewhere else for another six months or 12 months then I’ll consider it.
“But if nothing comes up I’ll try and fly through the coaching badges and see what happens down that road.”
There’s no prizes for guessing what Liverpool fans think he should do.
