Just call him 'Mystic G'

Steven Gerrard’s hindsight is 20/20, we’ll give him that.

Back in England, the LA Galaxy man is back in England since the middle of the month and expected to head to Melwood next week to try and keep his fitness up.

When it was announced that Gerrard was quitting Liverpool around this time last year many fans were wondering who the club would sign as his replacement.

James Milner did arrive on a free transfer to fill the gap but now the 35-year-old feels the club should have signed a certain Tottenham Hotspur starlet as his natural successor.

According to the BT Sport, the Anfield legend feels that Dele Alli was the man that could have anchored Liverpool’s midfield for the next 10 years.

“I thought he was certainly a player Liverpool might try to go for, especially with me coming to the end. He was certainly a player that I could see playing for Liverpool for 10 or 15 years. He’s certainly got that ability.”

“I was actually disappointed Liverpool didn’t sign him.”

Alli has scored twice this season for Tottenham and made his full England debut earlier this month as he scored a belter against France.

But let’s be honest when he signed for Spurs from MK Dons last February, could anyone really have foreseen this start to the season.

Apparently Steven Gerrard could, although the Liverpool transfer committee disagreed.
