Steven Gerrard has a footballer cousin – and he just scored at hat-trick against Brazil

Bobby Duncan is the first England player ever to do it

Rob Burnett

Steven Gerrard announced his retirement last week – just as a young family member announced himself to the world with a record breaking hat-trick against Brazil.

Bobby Duncan is a young cousin of former Liverpool skipper Gerrard – but unlike his famous relative, Bobby does not play for the Reds, but actually plies his trade for Manchester City.

At just 15-years-old, Bobby has already etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Englishman ever to net a hat-trick against Brazil, when he pulled off the feat in a 4-3 win for the England U16s against their Brazilian counterparts.

It’s the first time any English player has grabbed three against the Seleção at any level.

And young Bobby was clearly a a bit chuffed, as well you would be.

And cousin Steven was also impressed, posting this message on his Instagram account:

Has the baton been passed on?
