Steven Gerrard has directly addressed the Rangers rumours on live TV

Gary Lineker came straight out and asked him

“There’s truth to the rumours.”

Steven Gerrard has addressed rumours that he is set to become Rangers manager. The former Liverpool captain held talks with Rangers last week and the job appears to his if he wants it. The Ibrox club sacked Graeme Murty on Tuesday, following the 5-0 defeat against Celtic on Sunday, which sealed a seventh-consecutive league title for Celtic.

Rangers evidently want to make a splash and appoint a big name as they attempt to reclaim top spot in Scottish football. Gerrard is reportedly set to have more talks later this week and will make Gary McAllister, the former Scotland midfielder and Gerrard’s ex-Liverpool teammate, his assistant if he becomes the manager.

Gerrard was asked about the rumours on BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League semi-final second-leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. He confirmed that he has had “initial talks” with Rangers.
