Imagine Raheem Sterling ended up lining out for Liverpool in August. Imagine.
It’s highly doubtful though. Right?
The 20-year-old has hardly made himself out to be an attractive prospect for other clubs in recent months though with some of the antics that look to have been angling for his way out of Anfield and now he has come in for criticism from the city’s favourite son.
LA Galaxy’s Steven Gerrard (that still sounds weird) has said that Sterling needs to be a man about the situation and stop with the charades. The former Liverpool skipper (that sounds weirder) says he is not happy with the youngster’s carry-on.
“They all need to be men about the situation,” Stevie G said.
“Raheem needs to go in and speak to the owners and to Brendan himself, tell them what he wants and go about it that way. You don’t have to throw illnesses in and refuse to go on tour.
“I’m not happy with all that carry-on and I don’t think there’s any need for it.
“There are millions and millions of Liverpool fans around the world who are itching to see Raheem Sterling in a Liverpool kit.
“So I don’t think it’s fair on them if he is behaving like that.”
Meanwhile, with Jordan Henderson expected to be named as his successor as the captain of Liverpool, Gerrard believes that Hendo and Sterling aren’t even comparable right now. In as many words.
“Raheem and Jordan are at different ends of the scale,” he said. “Jordan’s so professional, he’s a winner, a great lad.
“I don’t think there’s a more fitting player to take that armband off me.
“I see a lot of my game in Jordan’s game and what I like about him is he’s very humble.”
And Daniel Sturridge wasn’t far behind echoing his old captain’s sentiments.
The Liverpool striker sent out this cryptic tweet which looked to be aimed as a dig at his current team mate.
Show me love and I'm loyal…

Show him the physio bills that he’s run up and he’s loyal too, I bet.
