STATS: The stark contrast between Liverpool with Luis Suarez and Rodgers’ current side

That Uruguayan fella was vital

Brendan Rodgers has, at least once this season, sung the Coldplay lyric “Nobody said it was easy but no one ever said it would be this hard.”

The Liverpool boss had to expect some drop-off after one of the best players in the world swapped the Kop for Catalonia last summer.

Since the departure of Luis Suarez, the Reds have looked like a bulletless gun and these statistics show how much Liverpool have struggled since their talisman said “adiós.”

Last season, Liverpool were averaging over 2.5 goals a game while they are struggling to make 1.5 a game this time around.

It’s not just a failure in the clinical department because stats also show that Liverpool are, on average, shooting three times less per game in this campaign than they were in the 2013/14 season.

The difference in shot conversion percenage is also staggering with shots from the Liverpool of last year almost 50% more likely to nestle in the back of the net.

And there’s no need for a graph to show the difference between Liverpool’s top scorer on 14 April last year and 14 April this year.
