Statistics really show how much Jordan Henderson has started to flourish as Liverpool’s number 6

No one else even comes close

Jordan Henderson is some man to find a man.

Liverpool’s captain has been tearing up the Premier League passing charts this season with the numbers definitely proving that he’s been the most prolific passer in the English top flight by a good distance.

Henderson has notched up an incredible 499 completed passes with his nearest competitor, Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater managing just 403, Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla and Idrissa Gueye of Everton complete the top four with 399 and 398 respectively.

To put this into context, Henderson is just shy of 500 passes in six appearances this season, making him well on course to surpass the 939 successful passes he racked up in 17 appearances during the 2015/16 campaign.

Some of the more cynical folk may contest these numbers citing the old adage, “if you throw enough shit at the wall, you’re bound to find some favourable stat for a Liverpool player.” However, it’s not as if Henderson’s been failing to find a player with every other pass.

According to football statistics buffs WhoScored, Henderson has completed 90% of his passes this season. Drinkwater found his man 76% of the time, Cazorla has also been incredibly precise with 90.5% while Gueye crops up with an impressive 89.4%.
