Startling evidence why Jurgen Klopp can’t afford to drop Roberto Firmino from his starting XI

When your luck is out your luck really is out.

Brendan Rodgers spent tonnes of cash in the summertime to try and help him hang onto his job, but not even blowing massive money on Roberto Firmino and other players such as Christian Benteke could save him from the sack last month.

The Brazilian was snatched from the apparent grasp of Manchester United in a deal heralded as a major coup by the Liverpool board and their boss in the summer.

However, the former Hoffenheim player looked uncomfortable during the opening months of his time in England, and failed to score or create anything of note in his early season appearances.

He then got injured and was missing for the final dark days of the Rodgers reign  before Jurgen Klopp took over.

And since then, and his return to full fitness after a back injury, he appears to be the club’s new lucky charm.

Philippe Coutinho may get the praise, but the club can thank Firmino for his link-up play with the creative genius for their  new lease of life in recent games.
