Yamal is a sensation.
Spain star Lamine Yamal made history as he scored Barcelona’s third goal in their 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in El Clasico, becoming the youngest-ever scorer in the iconic fixture at just 17.
Yamal’s spectacular drive into the top corner from an angle sealed the game, demonstrating Barcelona’s impressive blend of youthful talent and experienced leadership.
With this win, Barcelona moved six points clear of their La Liga rivals, reaffirming their title aspirations.
Yamal also upstaged the galaxy of stars on Real Madrid’s team, including Kylian Mbappé, who had an evening to forget at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid entered the match on the cusp of equalling Barcelona’s record of 43 unbeaten league games, set between April 2017 and May 2018.
However, those hopes were dashed as Barcelona delivered a stunning second-half performance, led by veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
After a goalless first half, Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, slotting in Marc Casado’s well-timed through ball.
Just minutes later, he doubled Barcelona’s lead with a clinical header from Alejandro Balde’s cross, leaving the home crowd at the Bernabeu stunned.
Despite two near misses that denied him a hat-trick, Lewandowski’s brace highlighted his enduring quality at 36.
Yamal, who is less than half Lewandowski’s age, then took centre stage.
Barcelona cleared the ball long, Lewandowski won a header and the ball landed to Raphinha. The former Leeds United winger carried the ball infield before laying it off to Yamal.
The Spain forward took a touch with his left foot before firing a shot into the top corner at the near post with his supposedly weaker right foot. Yamal’s stunning goal silenced the crowd and ended any chance of a Madrid comeback.
Raphinha then capped off the match with a late lob for Barcelona’s fourth, adding his name to the scoresheet for the first time against Real Madrid.
The match was a frustrating one for Real Madrid’s summer signing, Mbappé, who saw two goals ruled out for offside and was repeatedly denied by Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena.
Fellow Madrid star Jude Bellingham also struggled, continuing his goal drought despite a standout season last year.
For Barcelona, this victory showcased their successful strategy of pairing youthful promise with seasoned experience, a formula that has them firmly leading the league under new manager Hansi Flick.
