“I think he just walked into him.”
In a home debut that the striker will want to forget, Darwin Nunez was given a straight red card for headbutting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.
With the game ending in a 1-1 draw meaning that Liverpool are still seeking their first win of the season, the pressure and criticism has been heaped on the new centre forward.
Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were quick to come out and brand the behaviour as ‘brash’ and ‘reckless’ but there’s at least one pundit out there who thinks otherwise.

Former Anfield midfielder Didi Hamann may have been guilty of letting bias cloud his judgement as he told talkSPORT that he didn’t think it was a headbutt.
“I think he just walked into him. It wasn’t even a headbutt, I think he just walked into the defender into Andersen. if it’s a proper headbutt I can understand to extend the ban but he just walked into him.
“When I first saw it in real time I thought the defender maybe made a little bit more than it was, but obviously afterwards you saw that, I think he hit him on the chin.

“But yeah I’m not sure if there’s extensive force with his head, I think he just walked into him. Yeah he shouldn’t do it, of course he let himself down, let his team down, didn’t help Liverpool even though after he was sent off they started playing better than with him.”
