Shane Long is an Irish striker who was on a hot streak.
The Southampton man has impressed in recent weeks for his club, and it looks like Martin O’Neill may have had a few players coming into form ahead of the Euros.

Long was in electric form, but unfortunately suffered a leg injury around the hour mark and had to be replaced by team-mate, and Italy international, Graziano Pellè
There was immediate concern for the former Hull striker.

After the game Ronald Koeman was asked about the Tipperary man, and while the news will be clearer tomorrow, it does not sound good this evening.

Ireland face Switzerland on Good Friday, and then Slovakia at the end of next month, two games that Long may now be doubtful for after today’s injury.
