Sound fella alert! Juan Mata hands out gifts to primary school students

We've always liked the Spaniard

Juan Mata turned down enough goalscoring gifts when Manchester United failed to register a single shot on target during Sunday’s loss to Southampton.

But the Spaniard switched his attention to handing out gifts yesterday when he paid a visit to Button Lane Primary School in Wythenshawe.

The United midfielder handed out 500 toys, which he donated himself, to the students who ranged between four and six years old.

The former Chelsea man told the Manchester Evening News: “I have a good friend who owns a toy brand and we thought it would be nice to work together for the kids here in Manchester and in my hometown of Oviedo, to give these gifts to school children, but also for kids who are in hospital and kids who may not have had gifts from their parents this Christmas.

“It’s been a very nice experience for me to come here today; the kids seem really happy with the gifts and I want to try and do this as much as I can, not only me but the other players as it can be easy for us to do something like this,” he added.

The 26-year-old also took part in a PE lesson with the youngsters in association with the Move With Manchester United Campaign. Let’s hope he managed to put at least one goal past the five-year-olds.
