This deadline day might finally have a proposed move that will keep us amused all night
In all the articles about all the wants and needs of various Premier League clubs over the last month there was no line more obvious than the burning desire Aston Villa have for a striker. With only 11 goals in the league so far, Paul Lambert’s side are simply woeful in front of goal and after shipping five to Arsenal at the weekend, it looks like the board are finally trying to remedy it.
The Telegraph‘s very reliable John Percy has said that Villa have made a £5million bid for Rickie Lambert. The story first did the rounds earlier today and was dismissed by Liverpool based journalists as a no go for a loan deal. But with what now seems like a solid offer from Villa, we wonder will Brendan Rodgers change his mind?
Lambert only arrived at Anfield in the summer for £4m so perhaps the chance of turning a quick profit on the 32-year-old striker will swing the deal. We have a feeling this might be the story that runs all the way to 100 and beyond.
After all, there is always one…
UPDATE: There’s an update from the BBC on the Lambert
Latest information I have on Rickie Lambert is that he is ‘considering’ whether to join Aston Villa tonight.

UPDATE 2: Looks like the clubs had a deal but the striker said no
Important to say a deal to take Rickie Lambert to Aston Villa was on the table but he turned it down.

So ends easily the most interesting transfer saga of the day. Sigh…
